Scholarship Overview: The Mastercard Foundation is partnering with University of Edinburgh Scotland,to offer 100% scholarship to best students from Africa who demonstrates great potential with few educational opportunities.
SEE DETAILS OF ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
To be considered for Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at University of Edinburgh,applicants MUST meet the following criteria;-
UNDERGRADUATES :-
1. Applicants must meet academic requirements before applying.They are advised to first apply for the scholarship before applying to the university. Visit this link for undergraduate requirements based on country ;- http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/country/africa.
2.Applicants must be residents and citizens of sub-saharan African countries.
3.Applicants must possess leadership qualities.
4. Applicants must come from a very poor family and show lack of financial means to pursue post-secondary education.
5.Applicants must not be on another scholarship programme.
6.Applicants must show readiness to return to Africa following their graduation to give back to their community.
POSTGRADUATES :-
1.Must have academic qualifications for admission into University of Edinburgh in the available programmes.Candidates are advised to first apply for the scholarship before applying to the university. See details of postgraduate academic requirements by country on http://www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/postgraduate-entry/africa .
2. Candidates must be residents and citizens of a sub-saharan Africa,with special interests in Malawi,Nigeria,Rwanda,Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
3. Candidates must demonstrate leadership skills and records.
4. Candidates must portray poor financial background,which proves that they will be unable to further their education without a scholarship.
5. Candidates must have or expect to obtain the overseas equivalent of UK first class honours degree.
6. Candidates must be willing to return back to Africa after the programme to give back to their community.
7. Scholarships are available for the following postgraduate programs:
- MSc Africa and International Development
- MSc Environment and Development
- MSc Global Health Policy
- LLM Human Rights
- MA Product Design
- MSc Sustainable Energy Systems
1.Cost of VISA application processing
2.Cost incurred for English language proficiency test 3.Air ticket to and from Edinburgh for awardees
4.Full tuition fee
5.Accomodation
6.Feeding
7.Stipend to cover living expenses including textbooks,printing and school supplies
8.Cost of community activities
9.Access to work placements both in Africa and Scotland
10.Participation in a summer school in Africa and Scotland.
DURATION OF THE SCHOOLARSHIP:
The scholarship is meant to cover the required number of years according to course of study.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION:
All applications must be submitted to mcfsp@ed.ac.uk before midnight(GMT) of 30th November 2018.

100% full ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES: All African students are elligible
WHEN DID THIS SCHOLARSHIP STARTED?
Scholarship has been offered since 2006.
SCHOLARSHIP TYPE: Undergraduate and Postgraduate
NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SPACES: 25 undergraduates and 10 Postgraduates.
ELIGIBLE FIELDS OF STUDY: All course offered at University of Edinburgh.
HOW TO APPLY:
Step 1. Access your eligibility by filling a Pre-Application Assessment (PPA)
Step 2:MCF sends you a reponse as to whether you are eligible to continue or not.If eligible,they will send you the full application package.
Step 3: Complete the application and email it to mcfsp@ed.ac.uk before deadline.
Step 4:University selection committee meets in January to give video or phone interview to shortlisted candidates as against February and March 2019 step 4. Successful applicants joins the program in September 2019
