- Mastercard Foundation has partnered with the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada to offer 100% free Undergraduate scholarship to academically promising Sub-Saharan African students who are from economically disadvantaged communities but could not continue as a result of poor family background, for 2018/2019 academic session.
- Brief description : The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Programme(MCFSP) for African students is now open for candidates who wants to apply at the University of British Columbia(UBC), Vancouver campus, Canada for 2018/2019 academic year.
- Eligibility and criteria:
- Candidates who are applying for this scholarship MUST meet up with the following criteria;
- *Must be a permanent resident and a citizen of sub-Saharan Africa
- *Must have strong academic performance(mostly A's) and meet admission requirement and requirement for English Language Admission Standards for UBC
- *Must demonstrate interest and capacity for voluntary services and school/community activities
- *Must posses leadership potential
- *Will be willing to cope with change and have interest foreign countries and culture
- *Must present financial statement showing that they are from economically disadvantaged family from the lowest two quintiles of their country's socio-economic scale.
- *Must be willing to return to serve their home country and enhance economic growth and social development at the end of the program
- * Must be graduating or have successfully graduated from a recognized secondary school
- *Transfer students are not eligible
- *Must be an international student who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian Study permit
- * Must be applying for undergraduates only in any of the following faculties at UBC's Vancouver campuses;
- - Faculty of Arts
- - Faculty of Applied Sciences(Engineering)
- - Faculty of Forestry
- - Faculty of Land & Food Systems ( including Global Resources Systems; Food, Nutrition,& Health; Applied Biology[Applied Animal Biology, Applied Plant & Soil Sciences or Food & the Environment])
- - Faculty of Science
- - Sauder School of Business (Bachelor of Commerce)

- * Nominating high school or non-profit organization completes 2018 Nomination Notification Form for UBCAwards to confirm the full name and date of birth of their nominee(s). November 1, 2017
High school/non-profit organization submits the completed MCFSP nomination package (couriered or
mailed packages must be postmarked by November 15) before. November 15,2017
- *Nominee completes the online Admission Application, and notifies UBC by completing the 2018Admissions Application Completion Form for UBC Awards. before December 1, 2017
- UBC MCF office will email the nominee to confirm that we have received your MCFSP nomination package. If you have not received an email by this date, contact us as soon as possible before January 31, 2018
- Deadline for nominee/school to submit any supporting documentation and/or results not available by December 1 (such as transcripts, supporting financial documentation, TOEFL score) before January 31, 2018
- * Nominee submits supporting documents before January 31, 2017
- Nominees informed of results of Mastercard Foundation Scholarship competition before Late March 2018
- * Nominee informed of results of scholarship award latest March 2017
